she didn't call me anything, she was asking if the person at the back, f, had been to that part of town. :) no, my name hasn't changed, although most people now call me "z," including SMS. i don't quite know how that happened.
f is a second-year in our postdoc group, and she is a prof at UCSD, so she mostly commutes to LA from san diego. sitting next to her during the frustrating parts of the conference really helped time go b more pleasantly.
